Bill overview
This bill seeks to completely eliminate the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). It proposes to repeal the Consumer Financial Protection Act of 2010, which created the CFPB, and restore any laws that were altered or removed as a result of that act. Supporters of the bill argue that the CFPB has been overly burdensome to financial institutions and has not achieved its intended goals. The bill’s passage would remove the CFPB’s regulatory authority over consumer financial products and services.
