Bill overview
The Original Open for Business Act of 2023 would require banks and other financial institutions with physical branch locations to extend their operating hours. Starting 180 days after the bill’s enactment, these branches must be open until 7:00 PM on weekdays and for at least four hours on Saturdays. The goal of this legislation is to provide greater access to in-person banking services for customers. This would apply to all depository institutions as defined by existing law.
