Bill overview
The Original Open for Business Act of 2023 would require banks and other financial institutions with physical branch locations to extend their operating hours. Specifically, branches must be open until 7:00 PM on weekdays and for at least four hours on Saturdays, starting 180 days after the bill’s enactment. This aims to improve customer access to in-person banking services. The bill also defines ‘depository institution’ for the purpose of this legislation.
