Bill overview
This bill, the Children Harmed In Life-threatening or Dangerous Labor Act, aims to strengthen protections against child labor violations under the Fair Labor Standards Act. It expands the definition of ‘oppressive child labor’ to include more hazardous occupations and places of work, establishes regulations for identifying such risks, and requires federal contractors and recipients of federal assistance to ensure they don't employ child labor. The bill also increases penalties for child labor violations, introduces a ‘hot goods’ provision to prevent the import of goods produced with child labor, and clarifies successor liability for employers. Finally, it mandates training programs and updates to relevant contracts and assistance agreements.
