Bill overview
This bill, the Rural Economic-development Assistance and Consultation to Help Our Tribes Act, aims to improve how the Department of Agriculture (USDA) works with Tribal governments on economic development. It requires USDA to establish a formal consultation process with Tribes regarding budget requests and reauthorization of certain programs, and to report on these consultations. The bill also directs USDA to publicly report on funding provided to eligible Tribal entities and to create an interagency task force to streamline economic development programs and reduce administrative burdens. Finally, it mandates the Department of Commerce to develop a comprehensive online repository of federal economic development programs available to Tribes.
