Bill overview
The Think Differently about Education Act of 2023 aims to improve the process of creating Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities. Currently, schools are not always required to inform parents about their right to include outside experts on the IEP team. This bill mandates that schools notify parents at the start of each school year that they can request the participation of individuals with specialized knowledge, such as therapists or related services personnel, to help develop the student’s IEP.
