Bill overview
The JETSET Costs Act of 2023 aims to reduce the use of Department of Transportation (DOT) aircraft for travel by the Secretary of Transportation and their executive staff. It requires that DOT aircraft flights cost at least 5% less than commercial flights to be used, with exceptions for emergency travel and notification to the Inspector General and Congress. The bill also mandates a revision of DOT’s flight cost calculation methods and requires annual reporting on all Secretary and executive staff travel on DOT aircraft, including justifications for the cost comparisons.
