Bill overview
This bill changes how the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) can collect fines for violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), which regulates telemarketing calls. Currently, the Department of Justice handles these unpaid fines. This bill would allow the FCC to directly pursue and enforce these fines itself, specifically if the DOJ doesn't take action within 120 days. The FCC would also be prioritized to collect penalties over $25 million.
