Bill overview
This bill aims to increase transparency and oversight of Medicare billing codes. It directs the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Inspector General (OIG) to conduct a study of how Medicare adds, changes, and removes billing codes. The OIG must then provide Congress with recommendations for improvements. Additionally, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will be required to annually publish a list of newly added billing codes, along with their usage and costs.
