Bill overview
The Farmers Feeding America Act of 2023 reauthorizes the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), which provides food to low-income individuals through supplemental food distribution. The bill increases funding for the program by $500 million annually from 2024 to 2028 and boosts funding for storage and infrastructure grants. It also allows geographically isolated states, such as Hawaii and Alaska, to receive commodities through alternative delivery methods, including purchasing domestically grown food with a portion of the allocated funds.
