Bill overview
The Safer Heat Act of 2023 requires the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to create and enforce safety standards for portable electric heating devices. This includes a requirement that these devices automatically shut off at a level deemed hazardous by the CPSC. The CPSC will consult with various stakeholders during the standard-making process and can periodically review and update the standards to ensure the highest level of safety.
