Bill overview
The FAIR Act requires the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) to analyze how proposed legislation would affect different income and racial groups. Specifically, if a bill is expected to have a significant impact on the federal budget (0.1% of GDP), the CBO must provide estimates of how the bill would change income and wealth for various groups, both in dollar amounts and as a percentage change. The bill also directs the CBO to report on methods for conducting analyses that consider gender disparities.
