Bill overview
The Build the Wall Now Act aims to resume construction of a physical barrier along the U.S.-Mexico border. It directs the Department of Homeland Security to restart projects initiated before January 20, 2021, and to make previously appropriated funds available for this purpose. The bill also modifies the requirements for the barrier, emphasizing agent safety and exempting construction projects from certain legal regulations. Finally, it strengthens the Secretary of Homeland Security’s authority to waive legal requirements to expedite border barrier construction.
