Bill overview
This bill, the Protecting Access to Medication Abortion Act of 2023, would require the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to update its regulations for mifepristone, a medication used in abortion care. Specifically, it would eliminate the requirement that mifepristone be dispensed in person, allow prescriptions to be issued via telehealth, and permit certified pharmacies to mail the medication to patients. This would expand access to medication abortion services.
