Bill overview
The Weather Innovation for the Next Generation Act (WING Act) directs the National Weather Service to establish a research program to address how obstructions, such as wind turbines, impact weather radar detection and prediction. This program will explore and test technologies to mitigate these effects, including signal processing, alternative data sources, and new radar technologies. The program’s findings and recommendations will be reported to Congress to determine if further research or a cessation of testing is needed.
