Bill overview
The Armed Conflict Migration Act of 2023 directs the U.S. Treasury Secretary to urge international financial institutions to provide financial assistance to countries hosting displaced civilians fleeing the conflict in Israel following the October 2023 attacks by Hamas. This assistance is specifically intended for humanitarian aid to these displaced individuals. The requirement for the U.S. to advocate for this aid will automatically expire after seven years, or sooner if the Secretary of the Treasury determines it’s no longer in the U.S. national interest or if the conflict ceases to be a driver of displacement.
