Bill overview
The Strengthening American Nuclear Competitiveness Act aims to bolster the United States’ position in the global nuclear market. It directs the Department of Energy to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current state of the U.S. nuclear industry, including its legal and regulatory environment, and to compare it with that of other countries. The bill also seeks to expedite licensing for nuclear projects involving foreign allies and addresses potential licensing challenges for nonelectric applications of nuclear energy, while extending the Price-Anderson Act’s liability coverage and requiring a review of the risk pooling program.
