Bill overview
This bill, the Congressional Budget Office Data Sharing Act, aims to improve the Congressional Budget Office’s (CBO) ability to access data from the executive branch. It modifies the existing Congressional Budget and Impoundment Control Act to allow the CBO to request data from agencies, even without a formal written agreement, as long as the CBO maintains the same confidentiality standards as the providing agency. The bill also requires the CBO to report to Congress on its data requests and any difficulties encountered in obtaining information.
