Bill overview
This bill, the Architect of the Capitol Appointment Act of 2023, changes how the Architect of the Capitol is selected and removed. Currently, the President appoints the Architect, but this act establishes a bipartisan congressional commission – comprised of key members of Congress – to appoint, reappoint, and remove the Architect. The commission also has the responsibility to appoint a Deputy Architect and designate an acting Architect in case of vacancies or absences.
