Bill overview
The Providers and Payers COMPETE Act requires the Department of Health and Human Services to annually report on how Medicare regulations affect the consolidation of healthcare providers and payers – such as hospitals, insurance companies, and pharmacy benefit managers. The report will also include a process for seeking public comment on how proposed Medicare rules might impact this consolidation. Additionally, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation will evaluate the impact of new models on provider and payer consolidation.
