Bill overview
This bill aims to strengthen the United States’ influence in international standards-setting for wireless communications. It directs the Department of Commerce to encourage and support U.S. companies and stakeholders – excluding those deemed ‘not trusted’ – to participate in organizations like the International Organization for Standardization and the 3GPP. The bill also requires the Assistant Secretary of Commerce to develop a strategy for promoting U.S. leadership in these standards-setting bodies and to brief Congress on this strategy.
