Bill overview
The AM Radio for Every Vehicle Act of 2024 aims to ensure that all new passenger motor vehicles include the ability to receive AM broadcast signals. The Secretary of Transportation will create a rule requiring this standard equipment, with a phased implementation over several years. The bill also directs a study on how AM radio can be used to disseminate emergency alerts through the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS), and prohibits states from enacting regulations that conflict with this federal requirement.
