Bill overview
The Enhanced Presidential Security Act of 2024 aims to standardize the Secret Service’s approach to determining the number of agents assigned to protect the President, Vice President, and major presidential and vice-presidential candidates. Currently, the Secret Service uses a somewhat inconsistent process. This bill requires the Secret Service to use uniform standards for these protections and mandates a comprehensive review of their current practices. The review will result in recommendations for improvement and will be submitted to Congress.
