Bill overview
The Protecting Veterans Claim Options Act amends U.S. law to give veterans more opportunities to challenge decisions made by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Specifically, it allows for the re-examination of claims based on new evidence submitted after a previous decision, even if it’s more than a year later. It also clarifies the evidentiary rules in cases where the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims orders the Board of Veterans’ Appeals to reconsider a claim, limiting the record to previously considered evidence while allowing for new submissions within 90 days.
