Bill overview
This bill, the Extended Opportunity for Small Disadvantaged Businesses Act, changes the timeline for small businesses to become eligible for the 8(a) program, which is designed to help disadvantaged businesses compete for federal contracts. Specifically, it extends the period a business has to qualify for two years after certification, starting from when they receive their first contract. The bill also retroactively applies these changes to current 8(a) participants, and requires the Small Business Administration to create regulations to implement the changes.
