Bill overview
The Securing the Integrity of Ethics in Government Act requires the U.S. Agency for Global Media to verify the authenticity of foreign academic credentials held by prospective and existing employees. To do this, the Agency must obtain documentation from a credential evaluation service, demonstrating the credential’s validity and comparability to U.S. standards. Existing employees will be required to provide this documentation within 180 days of the law’s enactment. Additionally, the bill mandates overtime pay tracking and establishes a process for reviewing the Agency’s broadcasting activities and hiring practices, including a special investigation into potential misconduct and the feasibility of an Office of Inspector General.
