Bill overview
This bill, the Selena Commemorative Coin Act, directs the U.S. Treasury to create and sell commemorative coins honoring the life and music of Selena Quintanilla. The coins will include $5 gold, $1 silver, and half-dollar clad versions. All sales will include a surcharge paid to the Friends of the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History to support museum operations and a Selena exhibit. The coins will be designed in consultation with the museum and the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee, and will be issued starting in 2029.
