Bill overview
This bill seeks to temporarily remove buprenorphine, a medication used to treat opioid use disorder, from the Suspicious Orders Report System (SORS) during the ongoing opioid public health emergency. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will be required to exempt buprenorphine products from SORS until 270 days after the expiration of the declared public health emergency. Following this period, the Justice Department and Health and Human Services will conduct a report assessing the impact of the exemption and make recommendations to Congress and the White House regarding its continuation.
