The Connections to Health Infrastructure and Emergency Recovery Services Act of 2024 (CHIERS Act) aims to improve access to substance use disorder treatment and supportive services for vulnerable individuals. It directs the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Housing and Urban Development to jointly award grants to eligible organizations. These grants can be used for transportation services, vehicle acquisition, personnel training, awareness campaigns, and other related activities to ensure individuals can reach treatment without financial burden.
