Bill overview
The Strengthening Access to Contraceptive Care Act aims to increase access to birth control services in the United States by establishing a grant program. This program will provide funding to hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities to expand their capacity to offer contraceptive care, particularly in areas designated as ‘contraceptive deserts’ where access is limited. The bill seeks to address significant disparities in access to contraception, especially among women of color and those in underserved communities, and acknowledges the underfunding of the Title X family planning program.
