Bill overview
This bill, the Delivering Elderly Lunches and Increasing Volunteer Engagement and Reimbursements Act of 2024 (DELIVER Act), aims to support volunteers who deliver meals to vulnerable individuals. It proposes to increase the standard mileage rate that taxpayers can deduct for charitable use of their vehicles when delivering meals to elderly, disabled, frail, or at-risk people. Currently, the rate is much lower than the rate used for business purposes, and this change would provide greater financial support to these volunteers.
