Bill overview
This bill, the Storing All Firearms Effectively and Safely Act (SAFES Act), provides a refundable income tax credit to individuals for the purchase of certain gun safes. These safes must be designed to prevent unauthorized access to firearms and ammunition. The Department of Health and Human Services will also conduct a study to identify gun safes that are highly effective in preventing unauthorized access, with the results of this study to be publicly released within five years of the bill’s enactment.
