Bill overview
This bill, the Visitor Visa Wait Time Reduction Act, aims to shorten the time it takes for people to get a visitor visa interview. It requires the State Department to report on which consulates and embassies have excessively long wait times (over 100 days) and to outline the steps they’re taking to address them. If wait times remain above 300 days at a particular location, the State Department must temporarily move staff to help speed up the process.
