Bill overview
The BNA Fairness Act aims to provide tax relief to members of the Armed Forces by excluding their ‘basic needs allowance’ from their gross income. This allowance is currently defined under Title 37 of the United States Code. The bill modifies existing tax law to specifically include this allowance within the definition of ‘qualified military benefit.’ The changes will take effect after the bill is enacted.
