Bill overview
The HEAL Act aims to increase the financial support available to veterans and organizations that transport them to and from Department of Veterans Affairs facilities. Specifically, it increases the mileage reimbursement rate for these trips to match the rate for privately owned vehicles. The bill also prohibits requiring deductibles for transportation related to medical care and expands the list of eligible organizations and individuals who can be reimbursed for providing transportation services to veterans.
