Bill overview
The Cardiac Arrest Survival Act of 2023 aims to encourage the availability of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) by providing greater legal protection to individuals and property owners who use them in emergency situations. It clarifies that people using AEDs, or those who own them, are generally immune from lawsuits, even if they lack training or follow signage instructions. However, this immunity doesn’t apply if the user’s actions were intentionally harmful or negligent, or if the device was improperly maintained.
