Bill overview
The Make Putin Pay Act authorizes the Treasury Department to seize and confiscate assets belonging to individuals linked to Vladimir Putin, including assets blocked due to sanctions or owned by the Russian government. The money raised from selling these assets will be used to cover expenses related to the Ukraine-Russia conflict, such as military aid and humanitarian assistance, and potentially for reconstruction efforts after the war concludes. The Treasury will regularly report to Congress on the proceeds obtained from these seizures.
