Bill overview
This bill transfers approximately 1,082.63 acres of land in Washington State to the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe, holding it in trust for their benefit. The land, currently part of Olympic National Park, is intended to support the Tribe’s restoration and cultural preservation efforts. The transfer is subject to existing U.S. rights and will be managed in accordance with relevant environmental laws, including the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. Finally, the bill clarifies that this land transfer does not impact the Tribe’s existing treaty rights.
