Bill overview
The IVF Protection Act aims to ensure that states receiving federal Medicaid funding must allow access to in vitro fertilization (IVF) services. The bill mandates that states cannot prohibit IVF and that local governments within those states also cannot restrict access to this fertility treatment. Importantly, the bill does not require states to offer IVF services themselves, nor does it limit states’ ability to establish health and safety regulations for IVF. This legislation seeks to protect access to IVF for individuals and families.
