Bill overview
This bill, the National Public Health Act, aims to address public health crises by requiring manufacturers of certain products to create and maintain plans to mitigate their impact on public health. The Secretary of Health and Human Services will establish lists of public health crises and products with a significant fiscal impact on the public health system. Manufacturers failing to comply with these requirements could face civil penalties. The bill directs the National Academy of Medicine to assist in developing and updating lists of these crises and products.
