Bill overview
This bill aims to strengthen border security by reallocating funds from the Department of Justice’s Assets Forfeiture Fund. Specifically, it requires the Attorney General to report annually on the amount of funds in the fund originating from Mexican cartels. Fifty percent of this reported amount can then be used to build physical barriers and roads along the southern border to deter illegal crossings. Additionally, the bill restricts the release of seized currency or contraband that could be linked to foreign trafficking organizations during civil forfeiture proceedings.
