Bill overview
The Doctors in our Borders Act aims to increase the number of foreign medical graduates who can practice in underserved areas of the United States. Currently, the Conrad 30 waiver program allows a limited number of J-1 visa holders to waive the typical two-year return requirement after completing medical training in the U.S. This bill expands the program by increasing the number of waivers available annually from 30 to 100, making more opportunities for foreign doctors to serve in areas with healthcare shortages.
