Bill overview
The Military Family Leave Act of 2024 establishes a new system to provide up to two weeks of paid or unpaid leave annually to family members of uniformed service members who are deployed or receiving orders for deployment. This legislation ensures that employers cannot interfere with an employee’s right to take this leave, protects their employment and benefits upon return, and allows for intermittent or reduced leave schedules. It also requires employers to certify an employee’s entitlement to this leave.
