Bill overview
This bill, the Canadian Snowbird Visa Act, would allow qualifying Canadian citizens aged 50 or older to visit the United States as long-term visitors. To be eligible, individuals must maintain a Canadian residence, own or rent a U.S. home, not be inadmissible or deportable, and agree not to work in the U.S. (except for Canadian-based employers) or seek certain government benefits. Visitors can stay for up to 240 days within a 365-day period, and their spouses can also qualify with some exceptions. The bill also clarifies that maintaining a U.S. residence doesn't indicate an intent to abandon a Canadian one.
