Bill overview
This bill establishes the Fort Ontario National Monument in Oswego, New York, as part of the National Park System. The monument will preserve and interpret the history of the land’s original Indigenous inhabitants, the site’s fortifications and battles, and the stories of the 982 World War II refugees who were sheltered there. The establishment is contingent on the Secretary acquiring sufficient land and will include a map and a comprehensive management plan.
