Bill overview
This bill proposes a 10% fee on money transfers (remittances) sent from the United States to recipients outside the country. The fees would be collected by remittance transfer providers and deposited into the Border Enforcement Trust Fund, which would be used to bolster border security efforts. To offset the fees, U.S. citizens who pay these remittances would receive a tax credit, and foreign countries aiding those attempting to avoid the fees could lose access to U.S. foreign assistance and immigration programs.
