Bill overview
The REDUCE Act aims to modernize electricity markets by allowing companies that group together retail electricity customers – known as ‘aggregators’ – to participate in wholesale electricity auctions. This would enable these aggregators to bid on behalf of their customers, offering flexibility in electricity usage. The bill seeks to remove barriers that might prevent aggregators from competing in these markets, particularly for larger utilities. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission will be responsible for creating specific rules to implement this change.
