Bill overview
The Energizing Our Communities Act aims to support communities that host electric transmission lines and promote conservation and recreation. It establishes a fund, the Community Economic Development Transmission Fund, which will receive interest from covered loans related to transmission projects. This fund will then be distributed to host communities – including local governments and Indian Tribes – for eligible projects and community support initiatives. The bill also requires the Department of Energy to report on relevant loan programs.
