Bill overview
The Supporting Made in America Energy Act aims to increase domestic oil and natural gas production by requiring the Secretary of the Interior to resume onshore and offshore lease sales. Specifically, it mandates annual lease sales in several Western states and the Gulf of Mexico, as well as additional sales in Alaska, and establishes a process for replacing canceled sales. The act also modifies the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act to ensure a consistent leasing program and prevent the President from unduly hindering leasing processes without Congressional approval.
