Overview
This bill, the State Firearms Dealer Licensing Enhancement Act, creates a grant program to help states and tribal governments improve their systems for licensing firearms dealers. The Department of Justice will award competitive grants to states that have laws requiring firearm dealers to be licensed and inspected. Recipients must report on inspections, violations, and license activity, and the Attorney General will report back to Congress on grant distribution and program effectiveness. The maximum grant amount is $2.5 million annually.
